Goddamnit!

I swear, my Karma is seriously fucked. I don't know what I did, (either in this life or a past/future/whatever one) but it must have been pretty bad. And don't tell me, "It's a learning experience!" because I'm really not in the mood to hear it right now.

I was driving to work last night when my car started to shake and make some odd noises. Praying that it would just make it a few more blocks to where I work, I started braking for a red light. That's when the 'Check Engine' and 'Battery' lights came on and it died. While the words Ohshitohshitohshit... ran through my head, I flipped on the emergency blinkers and waved out the window to tell the people behind me to go around, and fumbled for my cell phone to get ahold of someone.

Of course, you'd think that between the emergency lights and people going around me, others would get the hint. Nope. I had several people who pulled up right behind me anyway, then began laying on their horns when I didn't move. When they finally figured out that I couldn't move, they proceeded to zoom by me in the other lane while flipping me off and yelling obsenities out of their windows.

Jesus! It's not like I wanted to stop in the middle of the road!

Nobody was answering my phone calls, and after about 10 - 15 minutes of listening to busy signals and voice-mail messages, trying not to burst into tears, a couple of people came up and asked if I needed help pushing my car into a nearby parking lot. (I sure hope they earned brownie points with some diety, because they sure as hell deserve them.)

I started to walk the rest of the way to work, not sure of what else to do, when I finally managed to get ahold of my dad, who had gotten out of work early. He called work for me (Since I didn't have their number on me.) and drove out to where the car was parked.

We tried jumping it, thinking that it might be the battery. Nothing happened. Using a phonebook from one of the stores nearby, I got the number for a tow-truck and called them out. After the car had been towed to a repair shop, my dad gave me a lift to work and my sister was able to pick me up at 11:20 pm when I got out.

(Don't get me started on the shitty shift I had, either. Wednesdays are usually dead, but for some reason, a ton of customers all came in at once. They had to pull someone off of phones to seat and serve them. It was insane when I got in, and the customers were pissy becuase they weren't getting served fast enough. Never mind that they had been told when they were seated that they were understaffed and very busy at the moment.)

So I called the shop a little while ago, praying that whatever went wrong wasn't too bad...

It was.

Something broke off under the oil pan, causing it to leak rapidly without me knowing. Thus, the engine is completely shot. If I want to get the engine replaced, I'm looking at about $630 in labour alone. I have no clue what a new (or used/rebuilt) engine will cost me.

Argh...

I wish they had public transportation out where I live... I wish I was close enough to anywhere so that I could walk or ride my bike. I hate having to be so dependant on my car.

Goddmnit, I really hate my life.

(Yes, I am aware that there are a lot of people out there with worse lives than me. I realize that the aforementioned situation could have been much worse. However, I am currently feeling like shit, so I humbly request that you just humour me at the moment.)
