Yet Another Terri Schiavo Post
Mar. 23rd, 2005 05:24 pm1. This is a personal matter that should be dealt with by Terri Schiavo's family.
2. Whether or not you agree with his decision, Michael Schiavo has every legal right to have his wife's feeding tube removed.
3. The Government is not doing this out of benevolence.
4. The media is not giving us the information we should be receiving.
5. Terri Schiavo's parents are behaving selfishly.
6. The religious right are (as usual) being assholes.
7. Along with neglecting the proper scientific information, the media has not informed the public on how to prevent this situation from happening to you.

Date: 2005-03-24 01:55 am (UTC)Also the media isn't telling us all the things Michael has done to try and bring her back. They went to Europe and implanted electrodes directly into her brain. When activated it did absolutly zero.
And on a different topic....***hug** missed reading you post in a while.

Date: 2005-03-24 07:59 pm (UTC)I hope you don't mind, but since I don't have the patience to be as rational as you are about the case, I'm linking to it on my LJ.
BTW, I don't think you saw it so I'm repeating my (belated now) birthday wishes to you.
*hands you cake*
*and a cookie for the rant*
Are you considering going into politics? It'd make a change to have someone who actually thinks and cares there.

Date: 2005-03-25 01:56 am (UTC)And as far as my "unbiased" comment, it's more a comment on the whole anti-Bush sentiment. Not that I'm overly fond of Jeb or GW, but I'm tired of posts that use Mrs. Schiavo as a way of talking about Florida's governor and his presidential brother. Does that make sense? It's, for me, an issue of everyone getting so wrapped up in going against the Bushes that they don't even think about why. It's just BUSH SUCKS ARGH BLARGH DIE.
What this gets into, which is infinitely more disturbing to me, is ownership of one's body. Who is responsible for saying who owns the flesh and bone of a person who cannot make conscious choices? I don't want to get into that, though.
I agree with you. Do I think Mr. Schiavo is a perfect man? No, but he's no monster. And Mrs. Schiavo's parents, while well-meaning, are doing more harm than good.
*sigh* This whole thing pisses me off on so many levels. In any case, thanks for the info.
