According to our fearless leader, the proposed war on Iraq has no political motivations whatsoever.
*coughbullshitcough*
Thank the gods the U.N. doesn't seem to be buying it. Neither is a good portion of the Legistrative Branch. Still, good 'ol Dubya is spouting off his "My way or the highway" attitude and charging ahead full-force without any support and while ignoring the advice of everyone around him.
(And why is it that the people who are most adamant about going to war are the ones who never did any service themselves? People from Colin Powell and John McCain to Tom Daschle and Al Gore, who all did time in Vietnam, are among those attempting to warn us off this path. Menewhile, George (A)W.(OL) Bush, Dick "I had more important things to do" Cheny and Tom "There wasn't any room for me" Delay are all gun-ho about this.)
Who do you trust more on this matter, someone who has been to war (And, in McCain's case, been a POW as well.) or someone who just decided to never show up?
"My apologies to all but I have just had it. Flat out had it.
The Bush 2.0 administration has continuously waffled on what the problem is with Iraq. They met with Mohammad Atta, then claimed they didn't. Iraq was hosting terrorists, then they weren't. Then they were just months away from deploying nuclear weapons even though the UN weapons monitors, Russian intelligence, the Mossad, members of the US intelligence community, former weapons inspector Scott Ritter and the International Atomic Commission all say that Iraq doesn't have the ability to build or deploy nuclear weapons. Then Bush declares that they now have NEW proof that Iraq has been hosting Al Qaeda. This week the CIA even stated, in Congressional hearings, that Iraq is FIVE years away from having weapons of mass destruction. That is the year 2007, not next week.
Anyone skeptical yet?
Should we consider the words of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld as the revealed word of God?
The international community is against an unprovoked war in Iraq including Britain, Spain, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and Russia; all democracies. Other democracies that have come out against an unprovoked war are Australia, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Norway, Belgium, South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Switzerland, Austria, Ukraine, Poland, South Africa, Luxembourg, Denmark, and Ireland to name a few.
Bush has even recently snubbed Gerhard Schroeder; Germany's re-elected chancellor. If this is the new road map to find allies in a field where none can be found, I am deeply worried. It is even worse when most of the White House staff are against an unprovoked war."
You know what, I have friends in the military. Some of them joined because they wanted to do something with their lives, because they wanted to help their country. This isn't how they wanted to do so, but now they're stuck. I've lost friends to drunk drivers and cancer; I don't want to hear of another loved one's death. Especially if that death was for a cause they not only didn't believe in, but was initiated just so Dubya could get his ratings up for the next election. Their lives are worth more than that.
I haven't seen it reported on the news, but the NPR was mentioning the protests going on in D.C. the other day. People were being arrested for peacefully holding signs, chanting, singing and the like. What the hell ever happened to our right to peacfully assemble and free speech? Or did the Supreme Court vote them out when they voted Dubya in?
And perhaps you're thinking that you don't care what happened to those damn hippies. Well, then let me ask you this: how will you feel when the protestors are fighting for something you do believe in? How will you feel when it is your voice being silenced? If you truly value your rights, you may want to join the fight before it's too late.
And if you don't see any new posts here for a while, it's probably because I'm in jail with the rest of those nut cases.
