...the hell?

piasharnHetalia has taken over my brain, and it won't give it back.
I just finished watching the movie, Paint It, White!, and... uh... maybe I should have waited for a subbed version.
I swear, the longer this series goes on, the more cracktastic it gets. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you XD)
Still, I find it funny that the movie has no historical significance whatsoever. The plot? Alien invasion. Really, did you guys let America pick storyline? Also, some things never change: someone attacks, so England, France, Russia, America, China, Germany, and Japan all grab their guns and tanks and planes... while Italy mass produces white flags. Oh, Ita-chan... Although he does eventually manage to save the day with a felt-tip marker. WTF?
(Guys, next time, just give Hungary a frying pan, tell her that the aliens are out to seize Austria's vital region, and let her loose.)
Plus, Switzerland is so militantly neutral that even the freaking aliens leave him alone. He and Liechtenstein have a nice picnic while every other country is running around like crazy. I swear, Ukraine's boobs got even bigger (is that even possible?), and, yea! It's the Baltics!... as ballerinas? And Sealand somehow manages to become mobile, and ...Roman Empire? What in the world are you wearing?! O_o
I thought that Prussia would be in it more, since his seiyuu was the one doing a lot of promo work for the movie, and because he's the one singing in the trailer, but he only had a small scene. ;_;
I absolutely love the song at the end too. I think they have a team of scientists who formulate how to make every song for this series as addicting as possible.
Speaking of which, I will never get tired of listening to Onosaka Masaya sing. Ever. It's really a pity that the Sailor Moon script writers didn't find an excuse to have Jadeite sing in an episode, 'cause really... just listen to him.
(For those who are wondering what the hell I've been babbling about, Hetalia is a anime/manga series that started out as a Japanese webcomic. Essentially, it's history on crack, where the nations of the world are portrayed as people. It started out focusing on WWII and the events leading up to it, but has since moved beyond that. The personalities of the various countries are based on stereotypes... America, for example, is a loud, obnoxious idiot who is always proclaiming himself to be the leader and/or hero, goes charging off into situations without thinking things through first, and always assumes that everyone else will support him. He is also constantly stuffing his face with hamburgers and slurping down soda like there's no tomorrow, and he can't find other countries on a map to save his life. As an American, I should probably be offended, but I can't stop laughing.)

Date: 2011-02-18 12:26 am (UTC)When I first started watching the series, France drove me nuts because I knew I recognized his voice, but I couldn't figure out who he was. So I waited for the credits, and when I saw who his seiyuu was, I actually squeed, "It's Jadeite! Jadeite is France!"
Also, Artemis is Russia ^し^
And I could totally see Jadeite disguising himself as a teen idol singer for one of his energy gathering plans.
