I can't believe this. A man is being sent to jail because he sold an adult comic to another adult.

Umm... how in the world did this case get off the ground? Can someone help me out here?

When have all comics been made for children? I think most of the ones in the North American market have been aimed towards guys in their late teens to early twenties. (Us gals always get the short end of the stick. Thank the gods for manga.) And so what if it's across the street from the school? My old school had a store next door that sold alcohol and cigarettes. Your point is?

And I like smut, damnitall! Besides, I'm a legal, consenting adult. Don't take my porn away from me!

Repression of smut is nothing new. Damned hard line right wingers :P And yes, American comics are aimed towards man-boys (i.e. males betwen the ages of 16-25). I have yet to see one aimed at children. None of my schools had anything near them, but one of the high schools in my district had an ABC type beverage place acoss the street and a billboard for a 'gentlemans' club three blocks away. I remember reading about this case when it first happened. And it is stupid and outrageous. Where is this man's constitutinal rights? He followed the law and sold an adult something meant for adults. He was a responsible retailer and follows the letter of the law and this is the thanks he gets. Makes you sick doesn't it.

And I like my hentai, pr0n, and smut just like the next person. Unlike them though, we happen to be more vocal about, and no ashamed of the fact (well I try not to be anyway). I'm sure Mr. Falwell has a collection of hot gay pr0n somewhere hidden away in a dark closet.

Is everyone ignoring the most impotant point here? Censorship! And not just any censorship, but we're talking censorship discrimination! Let me break it down for you. As a 'child' (yes, I'm 14; yes, I'm a girl; yes, I read slash that's rated NC17; what of it?) it's alright and encouraged for me to be oppressed by so-called 'morality'. If I want to pollute my mind with dirty thoughts and gay porn, that's my perogitive, (perogative?), and if 'adults' are entitled to limit my access to new ideas and opinions (even if the are 'indecent' and 'disgusting') that's ageism! And then that leads to gender barrier issues, which is a completely different rant! Urrggh!
