piasharnI'm up as usual. I was watching some anime when I heard my sister and her boyfriend (Oops, I forgot to tell you about Mike. We brought him back from San Diego with us.) come home. Odd... it seemed a bit early. I heard the door shut, and then...
"MEW!"
"MEW!!"
"MEEEEW!!!"
They had found a kitten just outside.
He's (yes, I checked) all by himself and so thin that you can feel every one of his bones. His nose is cut and burrs are burried everywhere in his fur. His eyes have changed colour, so he's old enough that he no longer has to nurse.
However, it has obviously been around people before, which means that it wasn't born wild. Given the starved state and the fact that there were no other cats around, I'm guessing someone abandoned a litter out here. (Again.) He must have wandered into our yard by chance.
(This is the third stray we've taken in.)
How can people do that? Why not just bring it to the animal shelter? At least that would be showing some responsibility for it. To practically condemn it to death by abandoning it, though...
I don't know which I want to do... cry or scream.
We've given him some food, cleaned out his cuts, and picked most of the burrs out of his fur. He's currently curled up amid some towels in the cat-carrying-case.
I think he'll be alright. Still, I want to see if we can get him into the vet first think on Monday morning.

BTW, I don't know if you know of this guy, but I think he has my vote if he gets the Democratic platform:
