You know, I think I'm starting to get a handle on watercolours... I don't think it will ever become my medium of choice, since I simply don't have the temperment for it, but it makes for a nice variation. Besides, you can get such wonderful effects with it.

watercolour artwork

(It does look a bit better IRL... My scanner isn't the best on the market, so it doesn't capture every variation and nuance perfectly.)

I started this piece some time ago, when I was still going to Life Drawing classes. Most of the work was done in a 20 minute session. I came back later to smooth things out and add some more detail.

I'm still not entirely happy with it, but that's normal for me. (Trust me, I can find flaws in everything I do.) Overall, though, I'm am rather pleased with the results, especially considering how frustrating I have found this medium to be.

From just looking at this over the 'net, I would have thought it was pencil, b/c that's how beautiful your lights and darks look. And congratulations on getting a good angle- most drawing class pieces don't look much like ART since it's mostly for technical skill... but this is a very visually interesting piece.
Nice work!

(and I don't have the patience and skill for watercolors either.)

first of all, excellent painting.

secondly, i dont know if you check your comments in other communities often. at anyrate, i wanted you to know. i posted your post card idea in "queerasfolkfans" (i dont know how to link) and it seems to be getting a good response. i really think we need to come together as communities somehow and make this thing work. just wanted to let you know, we're with you. just let us know.

Well, I've had some teachers that not only demanded skill but composition as well. They certainly helped nudge me along. Although in order to get a nice view, I sometimes had to sacrafice comfort. You should see some of the akward positions I've crammed myself (and my drawing board) into just to get an interesting perspective... ^^;;;

Thanks for the support! ^___^ I'm glad people like the idea, and it's definately something I want to get started. I'll certainly post something once I get this off the ground. (Perhaps starting an LJ community or getting a message board for people to swap ideas? Hmmm...)

I found you via an intelligent comment you left on a rather inane post in [livejournal.com profile] smileyme's journal. I had to see just who actually knew their history. ^_~ (And don't ask why I'm actually paying attention to such drama. I suppose I really am that bored this morning. -_-)

Your piece is wonderful. Watercolors really are a frustrating medium, and I've never had the patience to really try to much with them.

Anyway, I just wanted to leave you a random comment saying that I think you're one of the more intelligent (and, apparently, talented) people on the internet. That's definitely refreshing.

I won't ask you why you were there if you don't ask me why I was... ^^;;;

And thank you very much for the compliments. Although I can think of several people who are just as, if not more, intelligent and/or talented. Still, the sentiment is very much appreciated. ^_^

I don't mind at all... I like meeting new people. ^^

Hey, you have an Alix Olson icon! Kick ass! I got to see her live a few months ago. I've also got her book and one of her CDs lying around here somewhere... (Perhaps it's time to clean my room?)

First of all let me say your intelligent well thought out justified opinions are amazing, I found thoroughly refreshing while browsing a post a lj drama (http://www.ljdrama.org) and I decided to check out your journal, I've read a few posts back and again was amazed at the intelligence and logic level of your posts and opinions.

Not to mention the fact that you listed Utena among your interests so I'm giving you a sp00ty person glomp right there. ^_^

So what's my point? I friended you, is that ok? ^_^ I really like your journal and that picture is beautiful, very well done for being water color (I'm more of an oil based paintings m'self XD) I only hope you don't mind random lj posts on your friends list o.O I try to be very considerate about lj cuts and most of the time my posts aren't that long ^_^
