You know, I think I'm starting to get a handle on watercolours... I don't think it will ever become my medium of choice, since I simply don't have the temperment for it, but it makes for a nice variation. Besides, you can get such wonderful effects with it.
(It does look a bit better IRL... My scanner isn't the best on the market, so it doesn't capture every variation and nuance perfectly.)
I started this piece some time ago, when I was still going to Life Drawing classes. Most of the work was done in a 20 minute session. I came back later to smooth things out and add some more detail.
I'm still not entirely happy with it, but that's normal for me. (Trust me, I can find flaws in everything I do.) Overall, though, I'm am rather pleased with the results, especially considering how frustrating I have found this medium to be.
"And congratulations on getting a good angle- most drawing class pieces don't look much like ART since it's mostly for technical skill... but this is a very visually interesting piece."
Well, I've had some teachers that not only demanded skill but composition as well. They certainly helped nudge me along. Although in order to get a nice view, I sometimes had to sacrafice comfort. You should see some of the akward positions I've crammed myself (and my drawing board) into just to get an interesting perspective... ^^;;;
