"Bush has spent a whopping total of 250 days of his presidency at Camp David (123 days), Kennebunkport (12) and his Texas ranch (115). That means Bush has spent 42 percent of his term so far at one of his three leisure destinations.
To date, the president has devoted far more time to golf (15 rounds) than to solo news conferences (six)..."
And most of us are only able scrape a meager two weeks off a year. (That's 3.8 percent for the mathematically challenged.) If we're lucky. What's wrong with this picture?
And don't even get me started on the whole Iraq thing. It's dead obvious why Dubya's pushing that agenda. He's trying to cover up for the fact that we still haven't caught Bin Laden or are even getting close to locating him. Then there is the problem that we've gone from a good-sized surplus to being back in debt. So he doesn't want us to pay attention to the economy, because he doesn't know how to deal with it.
"The imperial presidency has arrived. On the domestic front President Bush has found that in many ways he can govern by executive order. In foreign affairs he has the nerve to tell other people that they should get rid of their current leaders.
Amazingly, with Americans turning into a new silent majority and Congress into a bunch of obeisant lawmakers, he is getting away with such acts.
...
The list of the president's self-empowerment moves grows almost daily and will continue unless the Supreme Court calls his hand.
Did I say Supreme Court? Forget it. Not with this court. It handed him the 2000 election, and it would probably cite some World War II decisions that allowed the government to violate citizens' civil rights, especially those of Japanese Americans, in the name of national security."
My dislike for this moron grows daily. Just look at the guy he appointed to head the Wildfire Prevention Program for more of his idiocy. As if having Ashcroft in the role of Attorney General wasn't bad enough.
Please, gods, don't let him steal the election again next year...
Are Nader and/or Browne running again next election? I don't think I've heard any names for potential candidates yet. (And I think it would be bloody hilarious if Nader won.)
Sounds good to me... who should the VP candidate(s) be?

Date: 2002-09-06 10:26 am (UTC)I, um, voted for this goober, but then again, my entire state went for Gore in a big way, so I suppose it doesn't really matter, but --
I'm voting for Ralph Nader and/or Harry Browne next election. No exceptions. Bush is... ohpleasedon'tmakemesayit...
Fine. Fuck. You're going to record this for posterity, I know you are --
But Bush is worse than I thought Gore was going to be.
I hope you're happy. *grinning*
*glomp* Say, I've got an idea. Between us, we're thirty-five years old, so let's run as a dual Presidency. Suits?
