Just a couple of things that I wanted to make note of.
Harry Potter:
In case you haven't read them yet, there are a couple of good articles in which JKR explains a few things about the new book. This one mentions what Harry, Ron, Hermione, and some of the others do for a living, and this one reveals which character was originally going to die but didn't, and which two characters who were originally meant to live but were killed.
It figures, the deaths that I am most upset about were the ones that were supposed to have lived. *sniffles* Why did they both have to die?
One final thought, but there's a spoiler for the book, so it's
It seems that a person's animagus form and their patronus are the same. This is judging by the fact that McGonagall's patronus was a cat with spectacle-like markings around it's eyes.
So does this mean that if Snape had been an animagus, he would have been a doe?
Comic Con:
I just got back from the Convention Center where it is held and... Wow! I have a four-day pass, so I didn't do much today except wander around and absorb the atmosphere. I wish I had had enough time to make a cosplay outfit, but there's always next year.
What's really nifty is that it isn't too far from where I live, so I'm able to walk down there and not have to worry about parking. It's not a short walk, mind you, but it spares me the stress of driving around downtown San Diego and trying to find a place to park.
I can't wait for tomorrow... Neil Gaiman will be there!
What I don't get is, if the OOTP communicates via patronus, then everyone would know that Snape's patronus took the form of Lily's patronus after Lily was killed. He might as well have gotten "I <3 Lily Evans" tattooed on his forehead.
Yeah, that's a good point. Perhaps Snape never had to send a message via patronus, he just recieved them? (Or only sent them to Dumbledore, who already knew.)
Although I have to admit, the mental image of a big-eyed, delicate patronus-doe speaking with Snape's voice is rather amusing...
SIGH. For awhile, I thought she was going to spare them. ;__;
I'm glad she answered those questions. But I still want to know the full names of all the kids! I'm assuming Harry's first son's middle name is Sirius. It better be! I'm still taken aback by his 2nd son's middle name. Despite what is revealed, I still thought it was odd. Snape was still a creep to me, lol.
I don't think Snape would have been a doe if he was an animagus. Didn't he just sort of take up the doe patronus due to his grief of Lily's death. I think he would have been a bat, she described him a bit "batty" did she not?
So did I! I think I could have handled just Remus dying, but I don't understand why they both had to kick the bucket. And it really irks me that it happened off-screen. It would have been comforting to know if Remus managed to take a Death Eater or two down with him. (I was really hoping he'd kill Wormtail and/or Greyback.)
And I wish she had kept to the original plan and killed Arthur instead. Yeah, I would have been sad, but the Weasleys would have still had Molly, and at least they grew up with their dad. Something that Teddy isn't able to do. (Hell, even Harry had more time with his parents than Teddy did!)
Yeah, his animagus form probably wouldn't have been a doe, much like Tonks' wouldn't have been a werewolf. But it's funny to think of him as one.
