I got my first review today... and did better than I thought. (And I am apparently a smartheadbutthingpants Mecha love child ^^;) Interpretations of various comments that I found particularily interesting follows...

"Maybe it's because she's emotionally stable, or maybe her life really is conflict-free ... either way, most of the time I have no idea how she feels about her life at the moment (unless she's really riled up during a rant)."

Emotionally stable? Me? *snickers* Honestly, the last thing the internet (Or the world in general, for that matter.) needs is one more whiney depressed person. I do have psychological issues that I am attempting to work out. However, I consider these to be personal issues. I'm the only person who can deal with, and is affected by, these issues, however. Political issues, on the other hand, have a much greater relevance to someone who is reading this.

"Y'know, I believe that if she can harness all that insight and intelligence into wit and sarcasm, then she has the ability to be the next Misanthropic Bitch."

In Real Life, I do tend to be very sarcastic. The problem with online communication, however, is that sarcasm very often gets missed. (Come to think of it, it gets missed IRL quite a bit as well... Oh, well...) And I'd rather find my own niche rather than turn into a TMB-clone.

"user pics: nine out of ten filled. They're all pretty random. Most of them work well with the layout, but the more brighter ones clash."

...holy snot, I thought I had ten pics! Why the hell didn't anyone tell me that I miscounted my uploads? (There I go being a moron again.)

I do wonder about the clashing issue, though. See, only the default image ever gets shown on the main page, therefor it is really the only one that ought to match the layout. (In my opinion, anyway.) When a user selects a different image for an entry, a reader will only see it via the talkread/talkpost pages (You know, where you can view the comments and uncut entries.) or someone else's friends page. The former has that defaul LJ look: mostly white with a blue sidebar and a bit of orange and purple. Friends pages are styled by their owners, and often tend to match that user's overall style.

I did have all somewhat matching icons for a while. I simply got rather bored with them. Besides, I like being able to use the various icons as extended mood indicators. (Another reason why there are a variety of colours/styles to them.) If I use my Delirium icon, there is a reason why. (Of course, you would need to be familiar with the Sandman comics to fully understand, but that's a different issue.)

"...it wouldn't hurt to show more emotions and describe more from her personal life as well."

Actually, I thought that I did get fairly emotional over some of the issues I've discussed... ^^ Being pissed off is an emotion ^_-

And... what personal life? I'm not kidding about this. I have no social or sex life. All of my close friends have either stabbed me in the back or moved to other states. I have a difficult time making friends and relating to people in general. Life is fairly monotonous at the moment and what spare time I have tends to get dedicated to reading and drawing.

For the gods' sakes, I still live with my parents! And in the middle of the frickin' woods to boot! I see more deer and wild turkey than people! (Although we do have a schizophrenic "neighbor" a few acres away who likes to yell at cars driving by on occasions...)

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Now if [livejournal.com profile] reality_review would just start accepting potential victims again. I've been feeling rather masochistic as of late...

Everyone is always going to have a different set of standards when it comes to reviews, and a lot of it has to do with personal taste. You gave reasons for why you gave the statements, and that's a lot more than some people do ^^

I'm also aware that reviewers need to adhere to the guidelines set up by the community. I was fully aware of that section when I signed up for a review, and was conscious that it would probably bring my points down. I just wanted to add my own opinion on the subject.

And, as I stated in the entry, the score ended up higher than I expected, so I'm actually rather flattered ^_^
