I am a total moron.

When I slapped together that Book List a couple of days ago, I neglected two novels.

One, which would go in the "Haven't Started Yet" list, is The Hedgehog, the Fox, and the Magister's Pox by Stephan Jay Gould. The other, which would go in the "Recently Completed" list, is Live From Golgotha by Gore Vidal.

The latter, I might add, had me howling in laughter. Gods, that's a great book. And I simply adore how well researched it is also.

I am now officially a Gore Vidal fangirl.

I wanted to post a private message to you concerning what you just wrote in Liberal back at that guy who's been jumping all over us. Your manifesto, of sorts. It was a truly awesome response. You were even-keeled and articulate, yet passionate. As a lesbian myself, the last thing I was looking for when I posted the original message asking for some good news was people like him. I was looking for people like you. Thanks so much!!!

I feel bad that your post, which was supposed to be about finding a way to cheer you up, ended up as a big debate. If it makes you feel any better, I am certain that gay marriages will become a reality eventually. Probably not this year, and maybe not the next one, but within the near future. Our society has been steadily moving in that direction for decades.

And I'm glad that I was able to help you in some way. ^__^
